Travis Barnes became a best-selling author, international presenter, founder and franchisor of Journey Fitness 333 he spent a decade of his life in prison for a nonviolent drug offense. Upon returning home to his wife and daughter he worked hard to grow himself in the fitness industry so he could buy his family a home of their own. 2 months after buying their home Tropical Storm Lee caused it to be flooded to the second floor. Approximately 1 year after the flood while still rebuilding their home and during the Christmas holiday season Travis was let go from his employment as COO for a local fitness company. After he and his wife spent 6 months as traveling trainers and while still living on an unemployment check and in a FEMA trailer, they began what is now a fitness franchise .
Most recently and with the rest of the industry Travis has overcome the obstacles of the pandemic by redesigning his business. Travis has used the pandemic as an opportunity to instead of returning to business as normal, he has returned to business as better than normal. Travis is an Overcomer and founder of the Overcomers Podcast. He will help you to overcome adversity and live your dreams.

As Founder and Principal of Joon Solutions, Ghazale Johnston assists individuals in discovering meaningful career possibilities. Ghazale specializes in equipping aspiring young professionals, purpose-driven entrepreneurs and motivated women with fundamental strategies, tools and confidence to achieve personal and professional goals. An avid storyteller, Ghazale coaches individuals on how to use their story to navigate transitions and create new professional pathways. She creates content and speaks publicly on various topics including helping women re-enter the workforce; advancing social causes; and the gifts and lessons she has gained as an immigrant.
Ghazale is regularly involved in programs that address the emotional and educational needs of children impacted by trauma and poverty, which includes serving on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas. Her focus on education extends to her leadership roles at North Carolina State University. Ghazale is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the NC State University Foundation Board, is on the Leadership Council for the Wolfpack Women in Philanthropy and is a member of the Wolfpack Investor Network.
Prior to launching Joon Solutions, Ghazale served as the Chief Operating Officer for Daymaker- a compassion platform that helps companies engage their employees through intentional acts of giving and service. During her five year tenure, Ghazale led the growth of the platform as it engaged 50+ corporate clients, 25,000 end users (donors) and 100 non-profit organizations who distributed gifts via Daymaker to over 30,000 under-resourced children. Ghazale continues to advise Daymaker on strategic priorities and growth initiatives.
Ghazale formerly spent 20 years at Accenture where she was a Partner/Managing Director in the Financial Services practice. In 2013, she was a winner of the Charlotte Business Journal 40 under 40 award.

This episode is one that brings us a different viewpoint of life, business and fitness from an individual who came to the United States after living his entire life in Germany.
Marco does a nice job telling his view of how the fitness industry differs in approach and style in Europe vs the United States. Marco had a life change after a long career in Europe, that forced him to make a decision to leave what he knew and was comfortable with, and take a leap to go to a new country and start all over. After overcoming some initial struggles Marco was able to use his past experiences to his advantage and utilize that knowledge to make a difference in many lives.
Marco has a Masters Degree in Sport Science, Sports Management, Certified Fitness and Athletic Coach, Certified Group Fitness Master Instructor, Certified TRX Instructor, REHAB Certified, Certified Nutrition Coach and Certified CPR/First Aid/AED
